Bitter Sweet?

(Or LONELY Star State)

The Struchen's are facing a new change and I've been more than hesitant to blog about it, reason being, I can't really find the words. It has literally taken me 3 different times to finish this short post. As some of you may have heard, my parents and Kai are headed to Houston. My dad has been given an amazing opportunity with Kroger and they are taking advantage of it. What does this mean for me? Well at first I thought of it as an awesome opportunity but now the selfishness and the hormones have kicked in and my heart is hurting. So over the next few months, maybe years, this blog is going to be a form of therapy for me and my crazy emotions.

I know that some of you reading this are thinking, "Well people do this all the time", and you're right, people do have this happen all the time. One problem, this kind of thing just doesn't happen to me and my family. Really, each one of us kids moved out and bought a home within 2 miles of my mom and dad and I don't think it was just by coincidence. Not only do we depend on them as our parents, they are truly our best friends. Now that Ridge is here, the cut seems that much deeper. He is going to have to have a long distance relationship with his grandparents and Uncle Kai and that just isn't the same. I know that we will make due and I know that it doesn't mean that they can't have a strong relationship, it just wont be as easy. My dad is headed to Texas in just a couple short weeks where he'll be looking for their new house and getting things situated. Luckily, we get to have my mom for the next couple of months until Kai is out of school. We are going to take advantage of the time that we have together and start to learn how to prepare for our future.
As we move forward I'm sure you'll be hearing from me.

  1. When Angie told me about this my heart broke. I felt so bad for your family. I know how close you all are. On Sunday night, after she told me, I laid in bed and couldn't stop thinking about the Struchen clan and how hard this is on all of you. But what a neat opportunity for your parents. And dont you worry I am sure with all the extra money Gma and Kai will come home as much as possible, and hopefully even Papa if he doesn't work too hard :-)

Love you all and I can't wait to hear all of your future posts :-) I'll be here for you.
